Meshakwad Boxing Club is now teaching Youth, Teens, and Adults how to discipline yourself, defend yourself, and push yourself further while having fun and learning how the technique and sportsmanship of Boxing guides you to new levels of fitness and personal achievement! We coach and train both Amateur and Professional fighters of all skill levels and weight classes.

Meshakwad Boxing Club is officially certified through USA Boxing for Competition, Training, and Boxing Fitness (Non-Contact). All of our Coaches are USA Boxing Certified and Trained, and have years of experience in Boxing as amateur and professional.

Meshakwad Boxing Club follows and adheres to all COVID-19 Guidelines as set forth by MN Department of Health and the CDC.

Coaches Ryan O’Brien, Tim Taggart Sr., and Tim Taggart Jr., invite you to come in, train, and learn from our years of experience!

The Meshakwad Boxing Club training is included into all memberships available!

Ryan O’brien

Head Coach

Ryan O’Brien is locally grown in Hinckley, MN and is currently the Vice President of Operations for Grand Casino Hinckley, and Head Coach for Meshakwad Boxing Club. Ryan has coached youth and adults in boxing for many years. Ryan always welcomes challenges and loves to motivate and push anyone to accomplish their goals and give them the tools and opportunities to achieve their dreams. Ryan looks forward to sharing his training knowledge and experience with boxers of all ages.

Ryan is a USA Boxing Certified Coach & Trainer, Personal Trainer, Functional Exercise Trainer, Medical Conditions Exercise Trainer, and an Exercise & Aging Specialist.

Tim Taggart jr

Assistant Head Coach

Tim Taggart Jr. is currently the Security Team Shift Leader for Grand Casino Hinckley, and Fitness Coordinator for Meshakwad Community Center. Tim started in amateur boxing at age 5 at his Dad’s (Tim Taggart Sr.) gym in pine ridge reservation. Tim eventually moved to Minnesota where he started boxing with the Lake Lena Boxing Club. During his time at lake Lena boxing club went to many different national tournaments, Silver Gloves, Junior Olympics, and NIAA. At the age of 19 he started his career as a professional fighter, and had his first professional fight in October of 2007. He has traveled to many different gyms from Hinckley, to Duluth, and even Miami. Tim is excited to start coaching boxing to all ages and share his wealth of knowledge and experience.

Tim is a USA Boxing Certified Coach & Trainer.

 

Tim taggart sr

Assistant Head Coach

Tim boxed started amateur boxing when it was still under AAU for Kyle Boxing in Kyle, South Dakota. He also boxed for a short time for Indian Men’s Club in Rapid City. In 1991 he helped start a boxing club in Wanblee, South Dakota, where he had anywhere between 15-30 boxers training and fighting every year. Tim was an amateur referee and judge. Tim coached, refereed, and judged for many years in local shows and in state, regional, and national competitions, including Silver Gloves and the National Junior Olympics. Tim moved, with his family, in 1995 where his some Tim Taggart Jr started boxing with Lake Lena Boxing Club, where he also coached with Head Coach Harry Davis. Tim continued to referee and judge on the amateur scene until 2008, when he started coaching Tim Jr as a Professional Boxer. Recently, Tim is a Professional Judge, and he continues to judge for shows put on by the state of Minnesota, and the Mille Lacs Band Department of Athletic Regulations.
